This study aims to develop a training module of the learned optimism Program to enhance the level of optimism among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The research was inspired by the phenomenon that many T2DM patients tend to display pessimistic thinking and a sense of helplessness in facing long-term treatment, which may affect their psychological condition and adherence to disease management. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a one-group pre-test post-test design, involving T2DM patients from Pameungpeuk Public Health Center. An optimism scale was used to assess changes in optimism levels before and after the intervention based on the developed module. The results indicated an increase in optimism scores after the training, suggesting that the learned optimism module has potential effectiveness in helping patients develop more positive and adaptive thinking patterns toward chronic illness. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for further development of psychological interventions focused on improving optimism and quality of life among individuals with chronic medical conditions.
