Peer Review

πŸ” PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All articles submitted to the Journal of Public Governance and Social Science (JPGSS) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. The editorial team evaluates manuscripts based on their relevance and contribution to public governance, policy, economics, and social science. Constructive feedback is provided by editors and reviewers. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief. The review process includes the following stages:

1. Submission of Manuscripts

Authors must submit manuscripts via the JPGSS Online Submission System along with a Turnitin similarity report.

2. Initial Desk Evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief checks compliance with JPGSS author guidelines and the journal’s focus and scope. Non-compliant submissions are rejected early to allow redirection to a more suitable outlet.

3. Similarity Check

Submitted manuscripts must include a Turnitin similarity report. The editorial team reviews similarity to ensure adherence to anti-plagiarism standards:

  • Above 40%: Immediate rejection due to high similarity.
  • 20% to 40%: Major revision required; recheck with new Turnitin report.
  • Below 20%: Eligible for review; minor revision may be requested.

4. Editorial Board Review

The Editorial Board assesses the manuscript’s novelty and contribution to public governance, policy, finance, and social innovation. Only qualified manuscripts proceed to peer review.

5. Substantive Review and Decision

Two independent reviewers assess the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewer feedback. Decisions include:

  • Rejected: Lacks novelty, relevance, or quality.
  • Accepted with Major Revision: Substantial improvements needed (e.g., theory, method); revision time: 4–12 weeks.
  • Accepted with Minor Revision: Mostly formatting or citation fixes; revision time: 1–4 weeks.
  • Accepted without Revision: Ready for publication; proofreading will still be conducted.

6. Revision Process

Authors receive comments from reviewers and the Editorial Board. Revisions must be submitted on time. For extensions, contact the Editor-in-Chief at JPGSSPublic@yydharta.ac.id. Late submissions without notice will be treated as withdrawals.

7. Final Acceptance and Publication

Once accepted, the article is scheduled for publication in JPGSS. Authors may request to be included in specific issues by emailing the editorial team.

πŸ“Œ Note:

  • Desk Evaluation (Steps 2 & 3): Maximum of 4 weeks. Manuscripts that pass will move to β€œIn Review” in the OJS system.
  • Peer Review (Step 4): Typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on reviewer availability.
