Abstract

Feed is an essential factor in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) aquaculture, and the use of natural feed such as Lemna sp. has potential as a pellet substitute to reduce production costs. Blood profile is employed as a physiological indicator to ensure that feed substitution does not disrupt the normal hematological condition of fish. This study aimed to determine the effect of feeding combinations of pellets and Lemna sp. on the blood profile of Nile tilapia. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications, namely P1 (100% pellet), P2 (75% pellet + 25% Lemna sp.), P3 (50% pellet + 50% Lemna sp.), and P4 (25% pellet + 75% Lemna sp.). Observed parameters included erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, blood glucose, and water quality as supporting data. The results showed that feeding combinations of pellets and Lemna sp. did not cause significant differences (P>0.05) in erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, or blood glucose, and values remained within the normal range. Water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrite, and nitrate were within optimal ranges, while ammonia levels were slightly above the standard but did not affect fish physiology. This study provides scientific information on the utilization of Lemna sp. as an alternative feed in Nile tilapia aquaculture.
