STUDI TERJEMAH TAFSIR AL-QUR’AN BERBAHASA MELAYU LUGHAT JAWI PADA TAFSIR YASIN KARYA MUHAMMAD IDRIS AL-MARBAWI

Abstract

The style and typology of tafsir of the archipelago is very much colored by local Islam, both the culture and the conditions when the verses of the Qur'an are interpreted by the interpreter. The typology and style of archipelago -style interpretation is certainly a little different from the interpretation that has been known so far. For example, the classical tafsir has its own characteristics in comparison with the modern tafsir. Similarly, the interpretation of the archipelago will be slightly different in color from the model of interpretation produced by interpreters from the Middle East. This is what is interesting from the typical interpretation of the archipelago.This study focuses on the method and model of translation used by Muhammad Idris al-Marbawi in the book Tafsir Surat Yasin Bahasa Melayu (Terjemah Lughat Jawi Melayu) and any additional information added by Muhammad Idris al-Marbawi. The approach used in this research is library research. As for data mining, observation, documentation, and data analysis are performed. The result of this study is that the translation used in Tafsir Surat Yasin is a translation that favors the target language text, which is categorized into the type of literal translation without including the original text. This can be seen directly in the book Tafsir Surat Yasin that it does not include the text of the original book, namely Tafsir Fath al-Qadir. However, this claim is in fact a claim of a commonly used method only. Meanwhile, in fact, the original text of Qur'anic verses or hadiths with short editions in some places are still included in the original text. Maybe, both texts are necessary because the two texts are the basic understanding for readers.
