Empowering Vocational High School Indonesian Language Teachers to Develop Numeracy Literacy-Based Ice Breaking Activities in Pasuruan Regency

The numeracy literacy of vocational high school students in Pasuruan Regency needs to be improved, particularly in Indonesian language learning. Students need to improve their ability to integrate numbers, data, and simple calculations into reading, writing, and speaking. This is because some learning approaches still rely on conventional methods. The focus of this community service program is empowering Indonesian language teachers as agents of change through icebreakers integrated with Indonesian language materials. The goal of this community service program is to improve teachers' ability to design and implement numeracy literacy-based icebreakers so that students are more motivated, active, and able to use numeracy contextually in everyday life and the workplace. The community service method uses a participatory approach with stages of briefing, observation, Subject Teacher Meetings (MGMP), direct practice, and evaluation. The activity took place on March 31, 2026, at SMKN Nguling and involved 15 Indonesian language teachers from vocational high schools across Pasuruan Regency. The results of the community service program demonstrated very high teacher participation. Participants successfully practiced five types of literacy icebreakers independently and in pairs. This activity successfully increased teacher and student motivation and provided an innovative, contextual learning model. The implications of community service are the sustainable improvement of vocational high school students' numeracy literacy.
