Abstract
The phenomenon of the revelation of the Qur'an with seven letters is still being debated among scholars. The embryo comes from the term al-ah{ruf in the sentence al-ah{ruf al-sab'ah which is the plural form of the word harf, which has multiple meanings, which ultimately leads to discussion of which opinion is closest to the truth or strongest in interpreting the meaning of al- -ah}ruf al-sab'ah. In fact, the purpose of the Qur'an being revealed with seven letters is a signal for the people that they are given a dispensation to read the Qur'an according to what is easy for them to read. With this framework, this paper tries to discuss takhri>j h}adi>th-h}adi>th al-ah}ruf al-sab'ah, the interpretation of scholars about the meaning of al-ah}ruf al-sab'ah, the strongest opinion on the interpretation of the meaning of al-ah}ruf al-sab'ah, the wisdom behind the revelation of the al-Qur`a>n in seven letters, the relationship between rasm 'Uthma>ni> and al-ah}ruf al-sab'ah, and the existence of al- -ah}ruf al-sab'ah at this point.
