Abstract

UD Restu Jaya is a manufacturing enterprise producing plastic packaging products from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) materials. The variation in task allocation across production lines leads to differing levels of mental workload experienced by operators. Excessive mental workload has the potential to decrease operator focus, accuracy, and overall operational efficiency. Therefore, this study aims to measure and analyze the mental workload of production operators using the Modified Cooper Harper (MCH) method. Primary data were collected through direct workplace observations, in-depth interviews, and questionnaire distribution to the operators. The analysis results indicate that blowing machine setup (7.63), blowing machine troubleshooting (7.94), and cutting machine setup (7.72) fall into the overload category. Meanwhile, most other production activities are categorized as optimal load, whereas machine startup, product weighing, and packing activities are classified as underload. Based on these findings, proposed improvement recommendations focus on high-workload tasks, particularly machine setup and troubleshooting, to minimize cognitive stress, optimize operator performance, and maintain continuous production quality at UD Restu Jaya.
