Abstract

The veil which is associated as a garment to cover the genitals for women is still being debated which is quite hot. Some even claim that the veil is the only representative garment to cover the nakedness. This debate is not only lively where Islam was born, but has penetrated all countries where there are Muslims in it.

In this study, the veil is seen from two perceptions of a mufassir who has a different background. From this research reading of the veil, it can be concluded whether it is a garment desired by the Islamic religion or limited as a tradition that happens to appear in places where Islam is present in its midst. In this case Asghar has the view that the veil is not a model of clothing that is required by religion for women, but the veil is said to be a certain regional traditional dress. Meanwhile, Ali argued that the veil as a mandatory garment to cover the genitals for women who are Muslim. However, both agree that covering the genitals for Muslim women is an obligation that must be carried out.
