Abstract

The distribution stage of halal chicken meat plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity after slaughtering. Inadequate monitoring during transportation may lead to temperature deviations, traceability failures, and contamination risks that compromise halal assurance and consumer confidence. This study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based halal risk mitigation system for monitoring chicken meat distribution in real time. A Research and Development approach was employed, consisting of risk identification, system design, prototype development, implementation, and performance evaluation. The proposed system integrates a NodeMCU microcontroller, temperature sensor, GPS module, QR code identification, cloud database, and a web-based monitoring dashboard to provide continuous supervision of distribution activities. The system enables real-time monitoring of product temperature, delivery routes, transportation duration, and shipment status while generating automatic alerts when predefined thresholds are exceeded. The implementation demonstrates that the proposed system improves distribution traceability, enhances operational transparency, minimizes the risk of halal non-compliance during transportation, and supports faster decision-making by distribution managers. The proposed IoT-based framework offers a practical and scalable solution for strengthening halal assurance throughout the chicken meat distribution process.
