Abstract

Text size

This study aims to describe the implementation of integrating the Ta'lim (tajwid theory) and Tashhih (recitation practice) programs and to analyze their contribution to improving the Qur'anic reading skills of students at Mahad Al-Jamiah, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Malang. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the program coordinator, mu'allim, mushahhih, and students, as well as documentation. Data validity was verified through source triangulation, and data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal three main results. First, the Ta'lim program is implemented through placement tests, structured learning using the Tuhfah Al-Tullab textbook (lecture, demonstration, and drill methods), monitoring, exams, and iqob (educational punishment). Second, the Tashhih program implemented a daily recitation submission system in the presence of certified mushahhihs with different reading targets per class (10, 20, or 30 juz) as well as assessment of fluency, eloquence, and tajwid. Third, the integration of these two programs enhances students’ Qur’anic literacy in terms of understanding tajwid, fluency in recitation, comprehension of verses (tafsir classes), the habit of daily reading, and the direct application of tajwid rules.
